Using the Equipment

Connect to Wireless Hotspots

Wireless hotspots are available throughout the Library. Setup instructions are available here, or at the IS Desk.

Printing in the Library

Dahlgren has black/white and color printers connected to the computers in the lobby and in the BACC (on the Lower Level). With your GOCard, black/white printing costs 5¢ for duplex (double-sided pages); 10¢ for simplex (single-sided pages); and color printing costs 20¢ per page. Non-GOCard holders can get a printing/copying card at the IS Desk and add money (exact change only).

Wireless Printing

Printing from your laptops (tablets and smartphones coming soon) to the Pharos Print Stations is available in Dahlgren Memorial Library. In order to print wirelessly, you must be connected to SaxaNet and install the printer driver and printer queue. Instructions can be found on the UIS website.

GOCard Services

GOCard holders can add cash to their GOCard at the IS Desk or online with a credit card at the GOCard site.

Non-GOCard holders can get a printing/copying card at the IS Desk and add money (exact change only).

Troubleshooting the DML Printers

  1. If the print station has an error message on the bottom of the screen, write it down and save it. You will need it if the problem is not temporary.
  2. Confirm that both print stations in the BACC and the DML Lobby do not work.
    1. If only one print station is not functioning, reboot the workstation using the power button on the right side of the machine.
    2. If this reboot fails to solve the problem, please contact the UIS Service Center. Be sure to include:
      1. Your name
      2. Which computer you printed from
      3. A copy of the document, if possible
      4. The error message on the screen from the print station, if possible
    3. If both print stations do not function, reboot both. If the reboot does not solve the problem for both print stations, proceed to step 3.
  3. If both print stations do not work after reboot during unstaffed hours, please report the problem to UIS.
    1. Contact the UIS Service Center.
    2. Report the following information to the Operations Center operator:
      1. Your name
      2. Your phone number
      3. “All print stations in the Dahlgren Library are not working. We have restarted them, and they still do not work. Can you please have the Pharos server administrator confirm there is not an outage?”
      4. Report additional information, including the error message, if possible.
  4. Follow the instructions of the UIS Operations Center operator. If problem persists, contact them to request a status update after one hour.
  5. If the UIS Operations Center operator confirms the problem is resolved, reboot the print stations again.
    1. If this reboot fails to solve the problem, please contact the UIS Service Center. Be sure to include:
      1. Your name
      2. What computer you printed from
      3. A copy of the document, if possible
      4. The error message on the screen from the print station, if possible
