Loansome Doc

Loansome Doc is a service provided by the National Library of Medicine (NLM). It allows medical library users to order articles through NLM’s PubMed system (fee-based for non-GUMC patrons). It is a subsidized service for GUMC patrons.

Dahlgren Memorial Library provides the Loansome Doc document ordering service to Georgetown University affiliates and health professionals in private practice using PubMed.

To request articles through DML, users must complete three steps:

  1. Register with DML by completing and faxing the form (202.687.1703).
  2. Receive DML’s Library ID (LIBID) number.
  3. Register at Loansome Doc.
  4. Articles are delivered electronically.

Charges: DC tax applies if paying with a non-GU credit card; charges apply if you are a non-GU affiliate.

  • Nonaffiliated health professionals:
    We accept Visa, MasterCard or check.
    • All Items = $12 per item (plus any special handling charges from suppliers) Effective January 2018
    • Rush service = $5 in addition to each item fee
    • District of Columbia 5.7% sales tax applies to all interlibrary loan lending fees. If your organization is exempt from DC sales tax, please email or fax a copy of the certificate of exemption to: 202.687.1703.
