All workshops will be held in the Biomedical Academic Computing Center (BACC), located on the lower level of Dahlgren Memorial Library (DML) or the DML Conference Room on the ground level. Workshops are for the faculty, staff, and students of Georgetown University Medical Center, Georgetown University, and Georgetown University Hospital.

Journal Articles: Finding the Full-Text FAST
Having a hard time finding a full-text journal article? If so, this workshop is for you! We’ll show you how to navigate Journal Finder like an expert, how to interpret your results and locate full-text within a few clicks. The Library may not own everything, so we’ll show you how to utilize the Washington Research Libraries Consortium (WRLC), the premier electronic resource-sharing consortium in the Washington Metropolitan area. Further hone your skills by requesting full-text articles from other institutions outside of Washington, DC through Interlibrary Loan (ILL).

RefWorks 101: Manage Citations & Create Bibliographies
Learn how to capture, manage, and work with citations using RefWorks, an online bibliographic management tool. This workshop covers the basic features of using RefWorks, including exporting and importing records electronically from journal databases, organizing records, searching and sorting records, and preparing bibliographies instantaneously. Hands-on practice included.

Advanced RefWorks
Learn how to use the Write-N-Cite feature of RefWorks to cite references in a Word manuscript. If there is time, we will also cover how to use other advanced features of RefWorks, such as sharing RefWorks folders using RefShare, creating RSS feeds, and using RefGrab-it to capture bibliographic information from web pages. This hands-on class is intended for those who have a basic working knowledge of RefWorks.

How Web 2.0 Enhances Research: Wikis, Apps, RSS Feeds, and More
Learn how Web 2.0 tools can help you locate, organize, and share information quickly and efficiently. We’ll cover a variety of tools and resources like social bookmarking sites, personalized home pages, wikis, RSS Feeds, and Apps. Wikis are a quick and easy way to create web pages; you can use them to collaborate on documents, brainstorm ideas and share bibliographies with colleagues and classmates without learning html. RSS Feeds allow you to stay on top of current research, news, and blogs; you can use them to peruse massive amounts of information from numerous information resources. Finally, Medical Applications for smartphones and PDAs can make your life easier by quickly taking you to authoritative medical and health information.

Search like a Pro: MEDLINE (OvidSP)
Ovid provides access to some of the most essential health sciences databases, including MEDLINE, PsycINFO, AARP Ageline, and EBM Reviews. In this course, we will first explore Ovid Medline’s search options: Advanced Searching, using Limits, understanding Subject Headings, combining searches, and employing the Search Tools. Any additional class time can be spent introducing users to additional databases and e-books offered through Ovid.
