Services for Clinicians : Technology Support for Teaching and Research (ITDD)
The division of Instructional Technology Design and Development (ITDD) at the Faculty and Curriculum Support (FACS) Center supports GUMC faculty and staff who wish to enhance effective teaching methods with the latest learning technologies. ITDD’s workstations are optimized for developing web-based online courses and interactive multimedia course materials.
The staff in this division provide advanced consultation, classroom instruction, and individual assistance in applying web and multimedia technologies to their teaching. ITDD staff also support the Blackboard course management system, and help create computer-based course materials.
GUMC faculty and staff can use software and hardware for web and multimedia development at the ITDD multimedia computer lab and request one-on-one training or consultation by appointment. These services are available at no cost.
Location
ITDD is located off the main hall of the Preclinical Science Building, ground floor (GM-6), and just across the hall from the Dahlgren Library entrance and the Medical Bookstore.
Instructional Technology Consultation
Instructional technology specialists within the division of Instructional Technology Design and Development (ITDD) provide faculty with individualized support for:
- Web and multimedia technology for creating or presenting course content
- Interactive web page, digital audio and video, slide image, and PowerPoint presentation development
- Technological applications for a course or curriculum plan and assistance in the design of online instructional resources or courseware
- Collaboration on CIRCLE grants, CNDLS Faculty Colloquium on New Learning Environments, and other funded projects

Instructional Technology Training
The Instructional Technology Design and Development (ITDD) center offers faculty hands-on workshops on various computer-based learning technologies, mainly in web and multimedia. The workshops are held in the ITDD Multimedia Computer Lab. Faculty may also request one-on-one or small group training by appointment. Contact Taeyeol Park for more information.
Instructional Technology Faculty Project Support
The staff in the division of Instructional Technology Design and Development (ITDD) provide support services in faculty projects:
- Assist in the design of online instructional resources, courseware or web databases.
- Assist faculty to incorporate web-based lerning or training components into their grant propopsals such as CIRCLE grants.
- Collaborate on projects with other campus experts from UIS, Lauinger Library, and CNDLS when needed.

CIRCLE Grant Support and Collaboration
The division of Instructional Technology Design and Development (ITDD) at Faculty and Curriculum Support (FACS) Center provides faculty with consultation and assistance for the CIRCLE grant proposal and project. FACS ITDD supports the use of technologies including audio, video, graphics, animation, narrated PowerPoint presentations, interactive web pages, web database, DVD and PDA. The workstations at the FACS ITDD computer lab are optimized for developing web-based online courses and interactive multimedia course materials. Software Tutorials (Atomic Learning)
Atomic Learning provides thousands of short tutorials on dozens of software applications. Focused on answering the common questions anyone may have when learning software.
